Charles Brandy started his career with the Buffalo Public Schools as a social studies teacher at Hamlin Park School #74, where he organized a mentoring program for at-risk students, and as a teacher at Futures Academy School #37 under the leadership of the late Marva Daniels. Mr. Brandy also served as a supervisor in the Office of Pupil Personnel Services, an assistant principal at Lincoln Academy School #44 and currently as Director of Social Studies. Mr. Brandy is actively involved in the organized labor movement at various levels. Locally, he served as President of the Central Office Educators Association (2013-2014), Grievance Director of the Buffalo Council of School Administrators Local 10 AFL-CIO (2013-Present) and Board Member of the New York State Federation of School Administrators (2014-Present). A native of Liberia, West Africa, Mr. Brandy came to the United States at the age of seven years old. He grew up in New York City and came to Buffalo as a transferred student from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, earning a dual undergraduate degree in History and Social Studies Education from SUNY College at Buffalo, Masters Degree in Social Studies Education and a School District Administrator certificate from Canisius College. Mr. Brandy serves as President of the Afro American Historical Association of the Niagara Frontier. He attends Greater Works Christian Fellowship, Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (Phi Omega Chapter) and Member of Ionic Lodge #88 Free and Accepted Mason Prince Hall Affiliate. Mr. Brandy is the recipient of the Omega Man of the Year Award and the 2003 WBLK’s community service award.
